German journalist Ira Peter continues to learn about Slavic languages.

She used to study Ukrainian and now attends Russian language courses at the Bavarian House. In May, she moved to Odessa for five months and became the author of the "city chronicle". He runs a blog about the cultural and social life of Odessa, describes his impressions of life in the city on the Black Sea coast.

According to the journalist, her focus during her stay in Ukraine will be on the history of Germans and Jews in the Black Sea region. "I want that the history of both groups to be better known in Germany and Ukraine. I feel a strong connection to Ukraine and I want to get to know the people and their culture better there," said Peter.

Ira Peter was born in Kazakhstan, but has lived in northern Germany since 1992. She studied literature and psychology at the universities of Heidelberg and Nice, and now works as a journalist, author and PR specialist. Since 2017, she has been actively covering the lives of Germans from post-Soviet countries in Germany.
